Gary Hartfield Keynotes at 2026 USF MLK Brunch

Gary Hartfield had the honor of serving as the keynote speaker for the University of South Florida’s 2026 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Brunch, an event that drew more than 150 students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Centered around the theme “From Words to Movement,” Gary’s remarks challenged attendees to move beyond inspiration and into intentional action. Reflecting on Dr. King’s legacy, he emphasized that progress is never accidental — it is the result of disciplined leadership, personal responsibility, and a willingness to engage even when it’s uncomfortable.

The morning was especially meaningful as Gary was introduced by his daughter, creating a powerful generational moment rooted in legacy and purpose. The presence of engaged students, including members of USF’s athletic programs, reinforced the importance of continuing Dr. King’s work through leadership on campus and beyond.

The 2026 MLK Commemorative Brunch served as both a celebration of history and a call to action — reminding all in attendance that movements are built not simply on words, but on consistent, courageous action.
